After going through a few different themes for my movement and motion project, I finally decided to base my project on global warming and how it affects animals and their environment. So I looked at ice caps melting and how this in turn is destroying polar bears and penguins habitats. I experimented with paper and plastic to try and create the look of ice breaking and melting and i also documented ice cubes as they melted.

Once i had talked to my tutor it was decided that I should focus on melting and the different forms liquids take on. So I observed ice and ice cream melting and decided it just was not exciting enough. So I looked to see what else I could melt. I discovered that melting ordinary wax crayons was very effective. I first experimented on a small canvas by glueing the crayons onto it with pva glue. Once it had dried I used the hair dryer on a medium heat to melt the crayons.
I found it to be successful so I repeated the process on a larger canvas.
Here is how it turned out:

I am going to experiment more using crayons and will see what else is interesting to melt.
